Prophet 21 version 24.1 has a new enhancement that will likely be the first step in seeing this enhancement in other intensive tasks/windows. Scheduling of item merges in P21 is now an option.

Item Merge Issues

In my years working in P21, Item Merges (either on purpose or accidentally) have always caused havoc when run during business hours.
This problem gets worse when the database is larger. Some Epicor users have been running for years or possibly decades, the more data the worse the impact.

P21 Scheduling Solutions

I’ve seen these performance issues firsthand, which also occur during customer merges.

I’m excited Epicor has added this feature to P21, this may be the first step in scheduling other performance-intensive tasks.
